Internet Network Marketing – Attract Free Leads and Grow Your Business With Free Internet Marketing

With the second wave of the Internet, Web 2.0, came numerous opportunities for entrepreneurs, and in particular network marketers, to successfully market their businesses on the Internet. However, it appears that, as in my case until fairly recently, most people believe that in order to get results Internet Marketing strategies should evolve around a website, and many folks are reluctant or cannot afford to pay huge expenses for the development of a site for their business. In reality, even someone with only basic computer skills can achieve success in Internet marketing, and in this article I will share some of what I have learned during recent months regarding this and show you some free on-line resources you can use to ethically attract people to your business without a website – or, if you are more adventurous, how you can develop your own site quickly and easily with no prior experience and at very little cost.

First, I’d like to say that you do not need a website to generate business on the Internet! I’ve seen small business owners, especially Network Marketers, spend a great deal of money to have a website developed for them expecting that it will generate business. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work that way. Earlier this year I witnessed a colleague pay to have a website developed, and she and her husband put a tremendous amount of thought into the style and content to make certain that it was well suited to their target market. They then spent hundreds of dollars for a 3-month advertisement on a very highly ranked site exclusively geared to their target market that was expected to quickly bring in all the traffic that they and their partners could possibly handle. The results were, to say the least, most disappointing. There was barely any traffic and no inquiries from those who visited the site.

On the other hand, I have been fortunate insofar as I met a young entrepreneur through my online business who developed his own website almost immediately upon joining my team. He certainly knows his stuff! The result is incoming inquiries via email – and for those who don’t want to wait for an email response, via phone!

Does that mean that the people hired by my colleagues were incompetent? No. There are so many more factors in creating a website than many people take into consideration, and those factors will greatly affect the results from the site. One of the major considerations is the intent of the website. Will it be used to give those who already know the Company, more information on products or services and prices, etc.? Or is the intent of the website to rank high on the search engines so that it will attract prospective customers or business partners? For example, in the case of a well-known computer manufacturer, let’s say Dell, the website would not really need to rank highly on Google; people know enough to type in the name to reach the website. However, in the case of a small home business, unless you plan on doing a great deal of advertising, it’s unlikely that people will find your site unless the right tools are used in setting up the site, including keywords and other things that relate to search engine optimization, i.e. having your website come up when people “Google” a subject.

Now here’s the great news: The same traffic that you can generate through a website can be gleaned in other ways that can be free or cost very little! Test this out by doing a Google search for any topic, and you will likely see that the results listed do not all take you to websites. You will likely see links to Squidoo articles, Ezine articles, blogs, and so on, and most of these ways of attracting traffic cost your time but not your money. This alternative method of marketing is often referred to as “Attraction Marketing” or “Social Marketing”. The principle is to share information with people through articles or short “tweets” or whatever – and those people who find your thoughts and ideas of interest will likely want to know more about you and what you do. Working this way, you build relationships of trust with others, and of course trust is the basis of any successful person or business.

Social Marketing is just one aspect of Internet marketing, and as I say it comes into play on Facebook, Twitter, and numerous other such areas, and the number of these social sites is growing steadily as people realize that the secret in marketing, especially on the Internet, is to offer something of value – to give before you receive – thereby developing trust. Whether you share a great recipe for pumpkin pie or information on building an Internet Network Marketing business, you want to help others first, for helping others is often the fastest road to success. Also, if someone finds your comments of interest, doesn’t it just make sense that you – and they – will be more successful in your endeavours, being of like mind or like interests?

So before you spend a dime on paying someone to do your advertising for you, I recommend that you get all the information you can on how to do your own Internet marketing. There are some great free resources (see a few in the resource section below) to take you step-by-step as you go through the process, and you can do it at virtually no cost other than your time, and it can become extremely enjoyable and rewarding! If you choose to build a website, there are some fast and easy places to do that too where you won’t need any knowledge of HTML code and such things – places where you can get free or inexpensive websites and blogs where you can get them up and running quickly – even for the computer novice. I speak from experience! If you don’t know the difference between a website and a blog, you are where I was only months ago!

Just one further note on websites: In some cases the Company or team you partner with in your business may provide you with a free or very inexpensive “replicated” website – a common website where your name and contact information is added to personalize it. However, whatever else you decide, I strongly recommend that you do not rely on such a website to bring you traffic! It may come in handy if you are directly referring people to it, but it alone will usually not produce prospects. If you are going to use this type of website, at the very least spend less than $10 yearly to buy your own domain name that you can redirect to that website. For example, you may buy a domain name of your choice, such as “www” followed by your name and “.com” and redirect it so that when people click on it or type it in they will be directed to your personalized replicated website, which is the site provided by your partner Company. By using your own name or your own company name, your prospect will remember your website. Otherwise people will often only remember the name of the main business, in which case those inquiries may go directly to the parent site rather than to yours.

There are also numerous other ways to market and develop your business on line, including of course traditional paid and free advertising, networking, etc. It’s really a matter of finding the best fit for you, your business and your budget.

The Horror Of My Network Marketing Experience

I want to share with you, my opinion about network marketing, aka direct marketing, or mlm (multi-level marketing). I’m currently involved in a direct marketing company and have been for 4 months. I love the product and the company, I’m making money, and overall, my experience as a network marketing newbie has been very positive. In short, there is no “horror story”. But I’ve learned a few things during the last 4 months that I want to share with those of you who are considering network marketing, or mlm, as your chosen home based business opportunity.

There are 4 things I’ve found to be extremely important to success in this industry:

o First – do not enter into a network marketing business hoping that you are going to make money. What I mean is, like having a j-o-b, it’s hard work, not a free ride. Once you join your chosen company, the money doesn’t come pouring in while you lounge around poolside eating bon-bons. You need to learn your product(s). You need to learn how to market your mlm business. You need to learn or perfect your presentation skills, whether using the phone or in person. And, in today’s world, you need to learn how to market your networking business by taking advantage of the internet. And, believe me, if you’re not a wiz on the computer, this can be very frustrating. The point is……you need to work. It’s a business, and, like any other business, it will fail if you are not working at it.

o Second – pay attention to the company leaders, not just the product(s). Who are they? What are their backgrounds? How much experience do they have in the industry? Just like with your business, the company must have a strong, driven management team in order to succeed. Wouldn’t it be sad if you’ve done everything right……marketed your business, grew your downline, trained your partners, and started making big money…….only to have the company go out of business? Believe me, it’s happened. Check out your company’s management team!

o Third – does the network marketing opportunity you are considering have a relevant product line? Your product needs to be unique in some way, and beneficial to the consumer. Generally speaking, direct marketing products are on the high end of the price range for any product category. So your product needs to offer something to the customer that they can’t get in other off-the-shelf products. If it’s new, or cutting edge, even better. As an example, there are a lot of nutritional juice beverages out there being marketed through network marketing. Even so, a company entered that marketplace a few years ago and took the industry by storm. Why? They had a unique ingredient that had a marketable story behind it. Boom! The company experienced unprecedented growth. Of course, they had all the other important components – solid management, great compensation plan, training tools, etc., but the product was unique and perceived as beneficial to consumers.

o Fourth – what position will you hold? How many distributors/affiliates are in the organization? I can’t tell you how many times in my limited career I’ve heard comments like “there’s enough (prospects) for everyone”, or “the company’s only 3 years old”. Most of the time, I hear that from upline distributors who got in on the ground level. Can you make money with the right company if you’re the 500,000th distributor? Yes, you can (see first point). Would success come much faster if you were one of the founding distributors of your network marketing opportunity? Absolutely!

Why am I telling you all of this? Because times are tough. Just getting to work costs, what, 3 times more than it did this time last year? Jobs are being cut in favor of less expensive, off shore or automated solutions. Benefits are being cut. Child care costs are high. Employees are expected to use technology (cell phones/computers) without reimbursement from the company, and the additional hours those technologies add to the workday are draining.

My message is simply this: don’t dismiss a network marketing opportunity as a source of secondary income. It can help alleviate the “pain at the pump”, pay for family vacations, or add to your savings account. With hard work, it can also be a path toward self employment and financial freedom. A network marketing home based business can be a rewarding and financially beneficial experience when you do your homework and choose wisely.

Direct Mail – A Brief Introduction

Direct Mail marketing can be defined as “marketing through a channel that reaches the consumer directly”. The channel is usually through a mailer. Direct mail marketing is also known as “Direct Response Marketing” but there are those who refer to this as “Junk Mail”. That is mainly because all of us receive so many direct mails these days that we hardly open any and as a result most of them end up as junk. And so the receiver does not end up taking the desired action that the business wants it to take. In fact these days people are receiving so many direct mails that some companies are offering them an option to opt out of receiving the mailers.

But that was not the case before. When direct mail started it was quite effective (in many countries where consumers do not receive so many mailers it still is), and so the business could stand to gain from it. But now in places such as the US, direct mails have mostly lost their effectiveness.

Channels of Direct Mail

Some popular channels of direct mail include advertising circulars, pre-approved credit cards, product catalogs, discount coupons, invitations, and many other unsolicited commercial merchandise that the consumer may not be interested in at all, or at best is indifferent about. Often companies do not send such direct mails to one and all but select groups of customers based on a geographical area, income group or social belonging. But even then the target group is rather large because the response rate is quite low.

What Made Direct Mail So Popular Once

Notwithstanding its problems, direct mail had many advantages and that is why it became so popular. To begin with, it is a ‘one to one communication’ and so the business can reach the customer directly. There are no noises in the system, meaning that the business can inform the customer whatever it wants him to know. Direct mail is also cheaper to deliver ad so for the same expense as television ads for example, the business can reach a far bigger number of customers.

Consumers while reading a newspaper tend to avoid looking at the advertisement insertions and when they see television, they tend to go for a drink when the commercials are running. When it comes to billboards most people tend to take just a fleeting glance as they are on the move while driving. But that is not the case with direct mail because it is sort of ‘up on the face’ and thus the concentration levels of the consumers are much higher. The lack of any distraction means that the receiver ca takes a decision after considering the validity of the offer and how attractive it is to him. Because of this, it has been seen that the response rate of direct mail is often higher.

But the challenge as mentioned above is to stand out from all the different mailers a person get and make him open it and read.
